A Ruddy Surprise

  Last week there were only two sessions: Tuesday and Wednesday.  Despite this we encountered some photogenic beauties, as well as more standard fare. Ruddy Shelducks On Tuesday the planned venue was out of bonds as a small private road on the way to the car park was closed because a domineering landowner was having a marquee delivered.  We had to move a mile down the road to a less varied site.  Our visit started well, with an immediate Kingfisher whizzing over the mud, and then a very near Curlew.  unfortunately, most sightings were too far away for photography! Curlew   Ditto   Ditto   Ditto    Sparrowhawk   Ditto   Ditto   Painted Lady   Roe Deer [fawn below] On Wednesday we crossed the Humber.  Both sessions saw Bearded Tits, but the morning group had the added surprise of a pair of Ruddy Shelducks, possibly a first for the past 14 years.  There were still plenty of Avocet, Black-tailed Godwits and...
